Two role play cards are used for the speaking test. One is
provided to the examiner who will play the role of a patient and the other will
be provided to the candidate who plays the role of a nurse. There are some
simple steps to follow when you play the part of the role.
You have to command the situation from the beginning. You have
to read the card of the role player and view how many tasks are provided to
you. You will get a high scorer in case you speak a great deal and finish all
the tasks.
The task may need you to check the important signs of the
patient and make the patient calm if he is anxious or not calm. You have to
give information on the home remedies and simple cures. You need to give advice
to the patient on the techniques which have to be practiced at home or tell how
to be careful and recommend the future prevention ways. You do not have to
forget any task.
You are the nurse on duty and you have be normal as in your
professional situation. You have to introduce yourself first and ask the patient.
In the entire process of role play you have to be calm and exhibit empathy and
sympathy. You have to be a nice listener and listen to the problems of the
patient and symptoms of illness. An anxious patient can tell his or her
symptoms in complete detail. You have to listen to the patient in a calm
manner.
You have to respond to a
patient in a calm way. You have to give assurance to the patient when the
patient is complaining. In case the patient is feeling nervous, you have to
give him or her some confidence by recommending his or her issues in a better
manner.
